STPU/STBGP Mahomet Urban Area
The Surface Transportation Program is one of the core Federal-aid Highway Program categories. Surface Transportation Program-Urban (STPU) funds [recently renamed Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP) in the FAST Act, heretofore referred to as STPU/STBGP] are suballocated to Urbanized Areas based on population in a graduated manner. The allocation formulas are determined by the FHWA, FTA, and the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the funds are administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The allotment for the Mahomet Urbanized Area for Fiscal Year 2022 is $107,554.24. The programming of STPU/STBGP funds for future fiscal years is based on the current fiscal year apportionment without applying any inflation rates. For that reason, the STPU/STBGP funding amounts listed for future fiscal years are subject to change. The Village of Mahomet is in charge of determining the best use of the STPU/STBGP funds allocated to the Mahomet Urban Area, while the CUUATS members agencies must collectively agree on the best use of STPU/STBGP funds allocated for the Champaign-Urbana Urbanized Area through the use of the current Project Priority Review (PPR) guidelines.
